CNS is a full-service Special Inspection and Testing firm, accredited by IAS and recognized as a Class 1 SIA by the NYCDOB.  We’re committed to delivering timely, high-quality, and cost-effective services.

On The Field

CNS strongly believes that the level of documentation is often an indicator of the quality of services being received.  CNS has a fully functional cloud-based portal where all documents are managed.  All staff can access project documents from anywhere using our system.  All CNS field staff are equipped with a tablet with mobile internet service to ensure all documents can be viewed, inspected, and reported with in a timely and efficient manner.  

Reporting System

We take great pride in our reporting system.  We believe our reports can be given to anyone who has had their scope of work inspected and provide understanding with no additional explanation. We have a custom-built Project Management Information System (PMIS) which we use to manage our projects, budgets, and schedules.  Our PMIS includes an automated email system. 

Quality Performance

Our Sr. Vice President, Mr. John Nucatola, PE, has over 15 years of experience managing special inspections in NYC. With his experience in managing and performing special inspections for various NYC private and public clients, he is intimately familiar with the work as well as the corners that contractors will typically cut. Quality is ensured in areas of special inspection from the installation of the wrong type of masonry anchors to improper firestopping assemblies at penetrations and joints.


We have a profound understanding of the NYC, NYS, and IBC Codes as well as all the inspection requirements dictated by the reference standards of ACI, ICC, ASME, ASCE, NFPA, etc. We believe our team has the deepest technical understanding of the unique role of Special Inspections. From our executive management down to our field technicians, CNS ensures that these inspections are performed competently and with appropriate technical vigor with every client we serve.

All deliverables are checked for code compliance through a thorough internal review process. Each report is reviewed by a Lead Inspector, Project Manager, and Technical Director before being sent to the client. Our inspectors are qualified and experienced to handle any inspection typically required on building renovation projects. We cover all Special Inspections listed in Chapter 17 and Appendix A of 1 RCNY 101-06, as well as those required under other codes. Many of our inspectors are cross-trained, allowing them to perform multiple types of inspections. This helps us maximize their skills and reduce costs for our clients. For example, our mechanical inspectors are also certified in energy, plumbing, sprinklers, and fire/life safety—so instead of sending four inspectors, we can send one and pass the savings on to you.
